The crisis and conflict breaking out between Lebanon and Israel on 12 July 2006 was stopped in accordance with the adoption by the United Nations Security Council resolution 1701(2006) on 14 August 2006.
The Turkish Parliament assembled exceptionally on 5 September 2006 and discussed government bill over sending Turkish Armed Forces to Lebanon in order to be charged with UN Interim Force and passed resolution 880.
UNIFIL Maritime Task Force has been conducting reconnaissance and surveillance operations through maritime operational area off Lebanon in order to prevent entry of prohibited guns and other related materials into the ports of Lebanon and its territorial waters.
Upon the prolongation of the resolution 1701, adopted by United Nations, Turkey will permanently support UNIFIL Operation with a Corvette/Fast Patrol Boat.
